On the Psychological Background of Psychoanalytic Theories
Lee Byung-Wook

Abstract
The human-being is not an island. We lead a life within the internal and external relationship. The famous theorists in psychoanalytic field were also not free from their living conditions and the unconscious. The reason why we get attention to the life experience and psychological background of many theoretical pioneers is also based upon the facts that all the extraordinary creative works in this world have a origin to the unconscious and their growth processes. I studied the life histories of psychoanalytic theoretical contributors such as Freud, Adler, Jung, Klein, Sullivan, Reich, Erikson, Horney, Winnicott, Lacan. They played the most decisive roles in theoretical advancement on human psyche. I had a conclusion that they were ordinary people within their family life but their internal life was very extraordinary, and then established their own creative works. These ten scholars give us the clues on the close connection with the theory and theorist¡¯s life experience.
